Magic Lantern Tales - Wednesday 11 November - IWM North

Wednesday 11 November, 7.30pm – 9.15pm
Imperial War Museum North, Trafford Wharf Road, M17 1TZ
Tickets £12, £10 Concession. Booking essential via quaytickets.com or at IWM North Admission Desk

A not-to-be missed evening of storytelling, photography and poetry, from poet and broadcaster Ian McMillan and documentary photographer Ian Beesley.

Set in IWM North’s unique building which houses IWM’s national collections, Magic Lantern Tales tells a story of the First World War from the point of view of men and women who survived it. Featuring original photography by Ian Beesley – who in the 1990’s photographed and interviewed men and women who had experienced the First World War, to capture their final memories and reflections on the changing world they had lived through and grown old in.

Their stories are brought to life using a genuine antique magic lantern projector and glass slides - alongside live poetry and spoken word by Ian McMillan, created specially in response to each individual’s story.
