Saturday 3 October 2015, 2-4pm
Gallery of Costume, Platt Fields Park, Manchester, M14 5LL
"We started with the Gallery of Costume collection and then people inspired each other to create the objects." Quote from a LINK group member.
Join us in celebration as residents of Rusholme and Fallowfield present their new design range inspired by the fashion collections at Gallery of Costume.
A group of older adults have been on a creative journey and are ready to share their expertise. From the first workshop at Gallery of Costume in 2011 when some of the group were ‘afraid to pick up a pencil’, these creatives now use print, drawing, stitch, lettering, mark making and word poetry to create bespoke items for sale. The proceeds will be fed back to the project and the Gallery. Each item for sale tells a story of a connection made between a historic fashion piece and an individual, between one group members and another, and between a resident and their cultural city.
Plates, mugs, prints and cards will be available to view and purchase from the Gallery of Costume shop. Meet the designers, hear their story, and join us for drinks and cake.
This project is delivered in partnership with Rusholme and Fallowfield Community Forum through their LINK Good Neighbours scheme. Please RSVP to Kate Day by email firstname.lastname@example.org
